Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Gold Life LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“Gold Life,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), governing your use of the My Business iOS app and its content and services (the “App”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to the Apple App Store Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple Standard EULA”). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Who can use the App
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live. If you use the App on behalf of a business, you represent that you have authority to bind that business to these Terms.
2. License
Subject to these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules set out in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions (including any use by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing). You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App, and you may not reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
3. Free tier and the Unlimited subscription
- Free to start. The App is free to download and use within these limits: 10 customers, 2 employees, 2 subcontractors, and 15 each of estimates, invoices, jobs, and receipts. Inside those limits you can create, edit, and delete freely, and anything you have already created always stays viewable. If you have never subscribed, nothing else on this page changes that: section 3A is about what happens after a paid subscription ends, and it does not apply to you.
- Unlimited. An Unlimited subscription removes those limits. It is offered at $12.99 per month or $89.99 per year, or the price shown to you at the time of purchase (prices may vary by region and may change over time). Eligible new subscribers receive a 1-month free trial; unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the free trial ends, your subscription automatically converts to a paid recurring subscription at the selected plan price.
- Assistant (Beta). Gold Life does not sell an AI plan. If your version of the App includes the assistant (Beta), you connect your own API key from a supported AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or Meta), and that provider bills your key directly under its own terms and privacy policy. Your key is held only in memory for your current sign-in session unless you turn on Save API Key, review our Privacy Policy and these Terms, check the confirmation box, and tap Agree & Continue, which saves the key in your iCloud Keychain tied to your Gold Life ID. The assistant will send what you ask, and the records it needs, straight from your device to the provider you connected only after you agree, as our Privacy Policy describes. It is a beta: its answers, and the changes it makes for you, can be wrong, so check them before you rely on them. Section 6 applies to it as it does to the rest of the App.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions are billed to your Apple ID and renew automatically for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Managing your subscription. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store account settings. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
- Payments and refunds. All payments and any refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms. We do not process payments or issue refunds directly.
- Price changes. We may change subscription prices. Changes apply to future renewals and, where required, take effect only after notice to you and, where Apple requires it, your consent.
3A. If your subscription ends
This section applies only if you subscribed and your subscription then ended — you cancelled it, you let it lapse, or a payment failed. It does not apply to the free tier in section 3. We spell it out here because it takes back things you had while you were paying, and that should never come as a surprise.
While your subscription is lapsed, My Business becomes read-only. Sign in and everything is still there and still yours — every customer, estimate, invoice, job, receipt, payment, employee, and subcontractor. You can open it and read it. What stops is the App doing anything with it.
- Nothing is written. You cannot create a record, change one, delete one, or move one to a different status.
- A payment that arrives after the lapse is not recorded. If a customer pays you while your subscription is lapsed — by card through Stripe or any other way — the App does not record it. Your money still reaches you; it is the bookkeeping that waits. Your books will be behind, and bringing them up to date by hand is your job once your access returns.
- No documents are generated. No Form 1099-NEC, no Form W-9, and no invoice, estimate, or receipt PDF to share or send.
- No export. The year-end exports under Menu → Documents — Income & Expenses (Year-End), Employee Wages (Year-End), and Subcontractor 1099s (Year-End) — and the App’s other exports do not run while you are lapsed. They work while a subscription is active, and on the free tier if you have never subscribed. If there is anything you will need somewhere else in the meantime, email adrian@softwarebygl.com for a copy of what we hold for you — we answer that in writing whatever your subscription is doing.
- Deleting your account always works. Erasing My Business’s data and deleting your Gold Life ID (section 5A) stay available whatever your subscription is doing. Apple requires that, and we agree with it.
- Subscribing again gives everything back at once. Nothing is deleted, trimmed, or downgraded while you are lapsed, and nothing has to be rebuilt. The moment your subscription is active again, every record and every feature is exactly where you left it.
- You can still ask us in writing. Turning a button off in the App does not end our duty to answer you. Write to adrian@softwarebygl.com from an email address on your Gold Life ID, ask for a copy of what we hold for you, and we will send it — lapsed or not, at no charge.
4. Card payments (Stripe)
The App includes an optional feature that lets your customers pay your invoices by card through Stripe, Inc.(“Stripe”). It is off until you connect a Stripe account.
- Stripe is the payment processor, not Gold Life. You connect and use your own Stripe account, and card payments are processed by Stripe under your agreement with Stripe and Stripe’s terms and privacy policy. Gold Life is not a party to, and does not process, hold, or disburse, any payment between you and your customer.
- Fees. Stripe’s standard card-processing fees apply and are charged by Stripe. Gold Life charges no additional fee for this feature.
- Your responsibility. You are responsible for your Stripe account and for meeting Stripe’s requirements, for the accuracy of every invoice and amount you charge, for any taxes on the payments you receive, and for handling refunds, disputes, and chargebacks with your customer and Stripe.
- Availability. Card payments depend on Stripe supporting your business and country and on Stripe’s continued service; the feature may be unavailable, change, or be discontinued. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gold Life is not liable for Stripe’s acts or omissions, outages, fees, holds, or payout timing, or for any payment that fails or is delayed, reversed, or disputed.
- If your subscription lapses. The App stops making new payment links, and a payment that arrives after the lapse is not recorded in your books — see section 3A. Your Stripe account and your money are unaffected; they are Stripe’s and yours, not ours.
5. Your data and backups
When you are signed in, the App keeps a copy of your business records on Gold Life servers so they appear on your other devices, as described in our Privacy Policy. Your records remain yours. We store and process them to provide the App to you, and for no other purpose.
You must sign in to use the App, and your records are backed up to our servers. You cannot enter new records or view existing ones without signing in. Without a connection, you can still open and read your records; adding or changing anything needs a connection. Signing out clears your records from this device; sign back in and they come back from your Gold Life account. The sign-in system checks in with its provider when the App starts, and if you use card payments, the invoice amount, currency, and a short description go to our payment service and to Stripe (section 4).
Take a copy whenever you want one. Email adrian@softwarebygl.com from an address on your Gold Life ID and ask for a copy of what we hold for you — we send it at no charge, whatever your subscription is doing. The App can also export documents and reports on the device itself.
We take reasonable care with your records, but we do not guarantee that syncing will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not a substitute for your own bookkeeping or backups. Erasing an app’s data from that screen, deleting your Gold Life ID, or deleting a record in the App may permanently remove information.
5A. Your Gold Life ID
Syncing requires a Gold Life ID, one account across Gold Life apps. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or your email. You are responsible for the account you use and for anything done through it. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it.
Deleting is two steps, in this order. On the Gold Life ID screen, tap Delete my Gold Life ID: the screen it opens lists every Gold Life app you have used and what each one still holds for you. First you erase each app’s data — My Business’s with its own Delete button on that screen, which removes every record and document from our servers and then clears them from this device too, while you stay signed in; another Gold Life app’s from inside that app. Only once every app in that list is empty does Delete my Gold Life ID become available; until then it is disabled, and the screen tells you which app is still holding data. That order is a rule, not a suggestion, and our servers enforce it too: once the Gold Life ID is gone, nobody could sign in to reach records another app still held, so they could never be deleted at all.
Both steps are immediate and cannot be undone. Each asks you to type your eight-digit Gold Life ID to confirm — it is shown in the confirmation itself — and deleting the Gold Life ID also asks for Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode in the moment before it runs. There is no review, no waiting period and no recovery window: when it is done, it is gone. Ask us for a copy of anything you want to keep first (adrian@softwarebygl.com). You can also ask us to delete it for you at adrian@softwarebygl.com.
We may suspend or terminate an account that we reasonably believe is being used unlawfully or to attack or abuse the service; where the law and the circumstances allow, we will tell you why.
6. The App is a tool, not professional advice
Important. The App helps you create estimates, invoices, receipts, payroll figures, and tax forms (such as IRS Form 1099-NEC) from information you enter. It is a productivity tool only. It does not provide accounting, tax, legal, or financial advice. You are solely responsible for the information you enter, for reviewing and verifying every calculation and document the App produces, and for complying with all applicable tax, employment, and business laws. Consult a qualified professional before relying on any document for legal, tax, or financial purposes.
7. Acceptable use
You agree to use the App lawfully, and not to use it to violate any law or anyone’s rights, to infringe intellectual property, or to interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or any related systems.
Because signed-in records are stored on our servers, you also agree not to upload or store content that is unlawful, that you have no right to store, or that you were not authorized to collect — including another person’s tax or identity information you have no lawful basis to hold. You are the one who decides what to put into the App, and you are responsible for having the right to put it there.
8. Intellectual property
The App and its design and logos, and the names “My Business,” “Evolved by GL,” and “Gold Life,” are owned by Gold Life LLC and protected by U.S. and international law. These Terms grant you no right to use our trademarks. The business data and content you enter remain yours.
9. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GOLD LIFE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any calculation or document it produces is accurate, complete, or suitable for your purpose. You use the App at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GOLD LIFE LLC AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION — ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP THROUGH APPLE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so these may not fully apply to you.
11. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Gold Life LLC from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms or any law, or the documents and data you create with the App.
12. Apple-specific terms
These Terms are between you and Gold Life LLC only, and not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). The following apply to your use of the App obtained through the Apple App Store:
- Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Gold Life LLC — not Apple — is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the App, and Apple has no obligation to do so. Direct any questions, support requests, or complaints about the App to us at adrian@softwarebygl.com.
- In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund any purchase price you paid for the App; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product-liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, claims under consumer-protection or similar law, and claims that the App infringes a third party’s intellectual-property rights. If any third party claims that the App infringes its intellectual-property rights, Gold Life LLC — not Apple — will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist-supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce these Terms against you.
13. Termination
Your license ends automatically if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time. If you erase My Business’s data from the Gold Life ID screen, or delete your Gold Life ID after emptying every Gold Life app as section 5A describes, the records we hold for you are gone immediately and permanently; if you simply stop using the App, your records stay until you delete them or ask us to. Letting a subscription end is not a termination and deletes nothing — your records stay on our servers and stay readable, under the read-only rule in section 3A, until you subscribe again or delete them yourself. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will survive.
14. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us at adrian@softwarebygl.com and try to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. If it is not resolved, you and Gold Life agree to resolve any claim through final and binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, held in Leon County, Florida or conducted remotely. Either party may still bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court or seek injunctive relief to protect intellectual-property rights. You and Gold Life agree that each may bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative action. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to the email above within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will reflect any change, and for material changes we will provide reasonable notice. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
16. General
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Gold Life LLC regarding the App and supersede any prior agreements. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may.
